Dec, Nov, Oct 2008 In August representatives of the Province of Brabant and the Brabant Development Agency traveled to Japan. The delegation, led by her Majesty's Governor Ms. Maij-Weggen, was well received in the headquarters of several leading companies in ‘The Land of the Rising Sun'.
Over 40 Japanese enterprises have subsidiaries in Brabant for production, R&D, distribution or marketing & sales to serve the European and sometimes even other markets. These companies, employing over 2500 people in this province, include world leading businesses such as Fuji Film, Omron, Iris Ohyama, Ricoh and Hitachi Construction Machinery. It was these enterprises the Brabant representatives made sure they visited. The management in Japan updated them on their future plans, and the parties discussed the effects of the recession.
The delegation again stressed the importance for both the Province and the Brabant Development Agency of the adequate support in advice, knowledge and guidance for Japanese companies. It is especially the innovative character of many of the businesses that greatly influences to the dynamics of the economy in Brabant.
