Dec, Nov, Oct 2008 A seminar on American business and industry on 09 April put Brabant on the map for the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), with over 75 representatives from American companies heeding the invitation for a special American networking event at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The major topic on the agenda was the Brabant high-tech industry and the role the High Tech Campus plays in international cooperation for innovations.
For AmCham, which is both mouthpiece of and lobbyist for the American business community in the Netherlands, it was the first time that it held an event in South Netherlands – in this case together with BOM, the Brabant Development Agency. These conventions are normally almost always hosted in the Randstad, given that this is where most American companies are headquartered. Both AmCham and BOM feel that the seminar in Eindhoven was a great success, thanks to the large amount of interest shown in it. The companies attending included Life Fitness, Ferro Incorporated, Honeywell International, Dalsa Professional Imaging and AFB International. But its success was primarily attributable to the networking get-together after the seminar, where it quickly became evident that many attendees were pleasantly surprised by the vitality of the Brabant economy and the share held in it by US corporations, many of which are leading companies. Admiration for the significance of the High Tech Campus was also voiced, as well as for the innovative developments that have come into being there in recent years.
Thanks to the success of the meeting in Eindhoven, AmCham is considering opening a ‘chapter’ in Brabant. Consideration will now be given to the composition thereof together with a number of partners in Brabant.
