Alpha Packaging Opens Production Plant in Roosendaal
Thursday 29 April 2010

Company Acquires Dutch Company SmartPET

Alpha Packaging (St. Louis, MO), a manufacturer of plastic bottles and jars for the nutritional, pharmaceutical and personal care markets, has opened its first European production facility in Roosendaal, the Netherlands. The facility is an addition to the company’s Dutch sales presence, which has been located in Wijchen for the past five years.

The company also acquired the assets of SmartPET, a Netherlands-based blow molder of polyethylene terephthalate (PET bottles) and jars, and is consolidating operations into the Roosendaal location.

The new plant is located within the Borchwerf II industrial complex in Roosendaal, in the West Brabant region. Peter Gommers, Alpha’s Director of Engineering, says the location was selected, in part, because the region “offers a deep talent pool of blow molding professionals and engineers who are familiar with the types of machinery we run. It’s almost like the Silicon Valley for single-stage PET blow molding in Europe. It just made sense for us to start our European operations here.”
