Mar, Feb, Jan 2009 BBCA Biochemical is set to undertake its European distribution activities from Brabant. The Chinese company is the world's biggest producer of citric acid, which is used by leading brands in both the foodstuffs industry and elsewhere. It is a subsidiary of Cofco, well-known as one of the most prominent companies in China and also one of the country's largest with a workforce of 9,000. The arrival of BBCA in Brabant once again underscores the favourable climate for food industry companies when it comes to setting up a shop in the region. The Chinese company will establish itself in Tilburg, from where it will serve its European clientele. BBCA settled on Tilburg due to the region's logistical infrastructure and the presence of highly-qualified staff, amongst other things. The company will be working together with the Tilburg GVT-Group (Gebroeders Versteijnen Transport) for its logistical tasks.
Investment seminar
BBCA's arrival in Brabant province was announced during a visit in September by a Tilburg trade delegation to Changzhou in China. BOM Foreign Investments hosted an investment seminar with other organisations, including the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in the city, which is also a sister city of Tilburg. Thanks to the seminar, dozens of representatives of Chinese companies became acquainted with the opportunities offered by the Netherlands when it comes to accessing the European market. The conditions in Brabant with regard to matters such as logistics, accessibility and the labour market constitute an important part of those opportunities. The BOM and NFIA worked hand-in-hand with the Tilburg municipality in assisting BBCA to find the perfect distribution location in Europe, and final confirmation that BBCA had settled on Tilburg came during the visit by the trade delegation to the company's head office in Bengbu.
