Mar, Feb, Jan 2009 Eindhoven, Netherlands - September 10th 2009 - Polymer Vision announced today it is now a division within Wistron's Mobile Business Group and has restarted operation immediately. The team will continue to focus on the research and development of its unique rollable display and take it to mass production, fast tracked with added support from Wistron's R&D resources and supply chain partners. Polymer Vision will continue to operate in Eindhoven.
Wistron is one of the world's largest Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) focused on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, designing and producing products labeled under various major global brands. Wistron is one of the world's top three notebook PC makers, and also produces desktop systems, smart phones, servers and storage, LCD TVs and LCD monitors, industrial/rugged systems, as well as networking and communications products. In its July 2009 issue, BusinessWeek ranked Wistron No.8 worldwide in its renowned The InfoTech 100 roundup, which showcases top tech companies that managed to thrive even in the face of a bruising global recession.
Following many years of research, Polymer Vision has successfully developed its pioneering rollable display technology to a level of maturity using mainstream Thin Film Transistor (TFT) equipment. Polymer Vision rollable display technology enables mobile devices to incorporate a display that is larger than the device itself. This is the breakthrough needed in the worldwide mobile industry to address the dilemma of display size versus device size. With the opportunity to create unique design form factors and the additional advantage of low power and sunlight readability, rollable displays will lead to a whole new generation of mobile devices.
