In 2001, the cities of Breda, Eindhoven, Helmond, Den Bosch and Tilburg formed an alliance with the local government of Brabant called “BrabantStad”.
The alliance aims to achieve sustainable growth in quality of life for the BrabantStad area, from economic, spatial, social and cultural perspectives. Collaboration is focused on important regional development issues that the cities and province would be unable to realize on their own.
BrabantStad focuses administrative efforts on regional synergy. Complementing rather than competing, the alliance creates a metropolitan environment on a network city scale. The urban network enables the realization of facilities in infrastructure, education, housing, health care, culture and sports far exceeding the possibilities of each individual city.
