BenQ’s head office is situated in Taipei, in Taiwan, where its employees – just under 1,500 of them – are fully justified in calling themselves the “permanent pioneers of the digital revolution.” BenQ always seems to be one move ahead of the latest developments and Giorgio Bignoli, Vice President BenQ Europe, can tell us why. “At our company, technology and design go hand in hand; our R&D centre and our collaboration with some excellent manufacturers give BenQ a very prominent position in several areas. Consequently, our brand is well represented on every continent, in more than a hundred countries.”
This solid position is also the result of the company’s absolute leadership in the development of monitors: BenQ was one of the first company’s in the world to introduce monitors based LED technology, and ranks among the highest in the world as far as projectors are concerned. The Taiwanese company’s products are sought for both their technically outstanding quality and their beautiful design, receiving over two hundred design awards in an eight-year period. “Innovation is in our genes”, says Bignoli. “But our DNA also includes respect for the environment; sustainability is one of our design principles, and the foundation on which we base the manufacture of our products and our operations.”

Europe is an essential market for BenQ and a branch of the Taiwanese company can be found in increasingly more countries on this continent. The European head office, with some 40 employees, was located in the Netherlands from the start. “We can cover the whole of the European market from Eindhoven, Brabant”, explains Adams Lee, President BenQ Europe. “This location suits us to a ‘T’, because the region has an international feel to it and the people who live and work here speak so many languages, which is perfect for us. And we’re also very pleased with the district’s logistic qualities, its flexibility and the productivity of its labour market. In addition, here in Brabant, foreign companies like ours are supervised by the government and authorities such as the Brabant Development Agency. I’m not actually surprised that more and more corporations from Taiwan, from all over Asia, in fact, have put Brabant on their shortlists for business locations.”
Adams Lee has been living in Eindhoven for some years now. “Eindhoven and BenQ can be described in the same terms: they both bring ‘Enjoyment and Quality to Life.’ The town and the company are a perfect match.” Giorgio Bignoli is also often to be found at the BenQ’s European headquarters, although he lives in Italy. “The international airport means that the distance is nothing to worry about.”
